Add Fake Reflection to Photos in Photoshop Tutorial:
Get ready to impress your friends with your new Photoshop skills! In just one minute, you’ll learn how to create a reflection that’ll make your photos look like they were taken by a professional photographer.
First, grab your rectangle marquee tool and make a selection that’ll be your reflection point. Then, press Ctrl or Command J and Ctrl or Command D, right-click and choose “Flip Vertical”. Move the reflection down until you’re happy with it and hit enter!
Next, hold down the control or command key, click on the layer thumbnail and then click the mask button. This’ll separate the masks and give you a new level of control.
Now it’s time to add some blur to the reflection. Go to the filter section and choose blur and then motion blur. Keep it at 90 degrees and adjust the distance to 19 for this example.
Don’t stop now, it’s time to add a bit of Gaussian blur too. Go back to the filter section and add 1.2 for a touch of extra blur.
To make the water look even better, add an adjustment layer icon and click on “Levels”. Move the slider to the left to make the water darker. To make sure it only affects the water, click on the “Create Clipping Mask” button.
Finally, if the reflection looks a bit too sharp on the edge, go back to the mask, open up the properties, and increase the feather just a little bit. And voila! Here’s your before and after. Who would have thought you could create a stunning reflection in just one minute!”
